(Springfield, Illinois – August 21, 2016) Matt Kurzejewski and his Ansell-Menards team went into the SuperChevyStores.com 100 at the famed Springfield Dirt Mile with no expectations. This was Kurzejewski’s first time on dirt in any form of racecar. After battling up to the sixth position early in the race, an overheating issue would push the No.52 team to a 13th- place finish.
Kurzejewski, the 25-year-old from Mansfield, Pennsylvania placed eighth during the lone practice/qualifying session on Sunday morning.
“This dirt thing is a lot of fun,” stated Kurzejewski after practice. “I came in with zero expectations and now I love it.”
The SuperChevyStores.com 100 took the green flag on Sunday afternoon in front of a packed Springfield State Fairgrounds. Within a few laps, Kurzejewski found himself running sixth and staying within striking distance of the top-5 cars. The Ansell-Menards driver noticed the water temperature rising rapidly and was forced to pit under the first caution to cool the motor down. <<MORE>> |
