October 21, 2015 - Ken Schrader Racing And Harrisburg Cruisers Host Annual Car Show To Benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation |
Concord, N.C. (October 21, 2015) -- Ken Schrader Racing, Inc., the Harrisburg Cruisers Car Club and the Bank of North Carolina are hosting the 3rd Annual Dennis Peskir Memorial Car Show on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Schrader’s race shop located at 4403 Stough Road in Concord, North Carolina. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The show is open to the public and begins at 8 a.m.
This year’s show features two-time ARCA champion (1987 and 1991) and team owner Bill Venturini, who will serve as a celebrity judge for Saturday’s show. Dedicating his life to motorsports, Venturini holds personal qualifying records at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. Since 2007, along with his son Billy, Venturini has helped many a young racer develop skills and transition from the ARCA Series to the ranks of NASCAR. He has also been a TV commentator. A Q&A session with Venturini will be a highlight of the event.
"What a pleasant surprise being asked to be a judge and speaker for the Harrisburg Cruisers Car Show at Ken Schrader's race shop,” Bill Venturini said. “Knowing Kenny & Ann for over 38 years, seeing his big car collection, and being a small car collector myself, it's nice to share the passion of cars with others. Especially when we're not having to worry if our cars are going to win or get wrecked on the race track!"
Federated Auto Parts, Schrader’s longtime sponsor and several associate sponsors for his team, are providing products for all entrant’s goody bags and door prizes. Martinsville Speedway has contributed race tickets for its October NASCAR weekend. Local merchants, including Mack’s Auto Repair, Aldi, Ray Helms Auto Body, Idle Time Designs, Food Lion, and Morrison Motors have donated product and services for the show.
The Concord Fire Department will have an engine on display and will be performing safety demonstrations. The Schrader family is a long-time supporter of the fire department.

“The Harrisburg Cruisers organization was founded in 2009, when a few car lovers from Harrisburg started talking and decided to form a club. We wanted to preserve the American muscle car while helping our community,” said Harrisburg Cruisers president Stan Cavaness. “Since its inception, the club has raised and contributed thousands of dollars to many local charities. Our members are dedicated to the club’s mission and, with the support of local businesses, we believe we have made a positive impact in our community through car shows, our monthly cruise-ins and other fundraisers. Our annual show at Ken Schrader Racing is a fall highlight and we hope to continue the momentum into 2016.”
The Schrader shop will be open for tours and crew members will be on hand to answer questions. At 9 a.m. there will be a demonstration for the DIY car enthusiast by Greg Purkey, owner of Purkey Motorsports. Purkey-built cars have been visiting Victory Lane for more than a decade.
Registration deadline for the show is 10:30 a.m. on the day of the show and the awards ceremony, sponsored by Hughes Automotive and Streetside Classics will start at 12:30 p.m. Trophies for “Best of Show” and “Charity’s Choice” among others will be presented.
